EMINENCE DANCE ACADEMY

SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT

Last reviewed: 1st September 2024

All staff have enhanced DBS with safeguarding training and follow the Eminence Dance Academy Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.

Safeguarding Lead: Miss Emilie Woan (Level 3)

Eminence Dance Academy are committed to putting the wellbeing of our staff, teachers, and students first. We want to create an environment for children to be safe, happy and feel empowered. We aim to achieve this by supporting and respecting all children, as well as our teachers and volunteers. We have a duty of care to safeguard children (anyone under 18), young people and adults at risk of harm and exploitation during the course of any activity relating to volunteering, employment or taking part in any of our classes or workshops.

At Eminence Dance Academy we promote healthy development, safety and welfare of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We welcome a diverse community including culture, racial background, religion, financial resources, and abilities. Whilst these differences will be respected, differing cultural approaches to child rearing and vulnerable adults will not be viewed as valid explanation for clear harm to a child, adult, or vulnerable groups.

We are committed to the safety, inclusion in participation, and empowerment of all children. We have zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our robust policies and procedures. We have legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child’s safety, which we follow rigorously. We aim to work in partnership with parents, group organisations and individuals surrounding any safeguarding concerns. We do not have the authority to personally investigate allegations of abuse, therefore, where necessary and appropriate, our procedure addresses making a referral to relevant local authority services including the police.

Our organisation is committed to preventing child abuse and identifying risks as early as possible. Our Safeguarding policy has been created to meet the requirements of the Children's Act 1989 and 2004, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, the Care Act 2014 and the Working together to safeguard children guidance document 2015.

Every person involved in Eminence Dance Academy has a responsibility to understand that the well-being and safety of the children is the forefront of every decision we make, and we all have a part to play in helping to protect those around us. We have specific policies, procedures and training in place that support these commitments. If you would like to view the Eminence Dance Academy Safeguarding Policy in full please contact Miss Emilie Woan (principle of the academy and Safeguarding Lead) via email: info@eminencedanceacademy.co.uk
