RAMBERT
CONTEMPORARY

From 7 years old

What is contemporary dance?

Contemporary is an expressive dance discipline, with plenty of floor work and energy, requiring use of breath with a fluid connection of movement and body awareness. Dancers learn how to interpret movement from head to toe and heart and soul. Unlike classical dance, this expressive dance form is largely based on free movements and improvisation. The distinctive character of contemporary dance lies in the alternation between suspension and release and the importance of the awareness of each gesture. It gives each dancer a clear sense of self, discovering their body’s natural movement and individual style.
